New Tata Tiago Launches in South Africa: Pricing and Features
Tata Motors has officially unveiled the pricing for its new lineup of passenger cars in South Africa, starting with the eagerly anticipated Tiago hatchback. Relaunched in the country last month, Tata has kept details under wraps until now.
The Tiago, a compact hatchback designed to serve as the brand's entry-level model, is now available in three variants, with prices starting at R184,900. A premium model, the XZ, is set to join the lineup later.
This pricing positions the Tiago as the third most affordable car in South Africa, trailing only the Toyota Vitz and Suzuki S-Presso, which retail for R178,800 and R178,900, respectively.
Engine Performance
Under the hood, the Tiago is powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine, delivering 63 kW and 113 Nm to the front wheels. The base XM model is equipped only with a five-speed manual transmission, while the XT variant offers the option of a five-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). Remarkably, fuel consumption is a frugal 5.0 l/100 km across both transmission options.
